Baby Baboons: July Update

The baby baboons have always been a boisterous bunch but recently they have taken their liveliness to the next level.   

We have been visited by a film crew recently who were filming our new television series for Animal Planet. They went into the camp to try and get some close up shots of the babies in their territory.  However they brought into the camp with them their bag filled with valuables and clothing.  Of course Carola was first on the scene, grabbing their bag and taking it up onto the climbing frame.  Shauna then assisted her in opening the bag and handing out the valuables to the other three who willingly took the objects and began running around with them clasped in their mouths. Rafiki had stolen one of the crew's hotel key and Rudie had a choice of watches to play with. Elvis was sitting down with a large sunhat on his head just admiring as the film crew ran around trying to get back their items.  Eventually the babies were distracted with food and the film crew scavenged the camp and picked up what was left of their possessions.

Carola and Shauna have been keeping the volunteers on their toes by constantly pushing their limits, biting and scratching. Luckily the volunteers keep putting those two back in their place!

Elvis has been learning bad habits from Carola and Shauna and actually bit his first volunteer!  He is becoming more and more like a baboon, the volunteers don't know whether to be proud of him or worry about what type of mischief he might cause.

Rafiki and Rudie are becoming more confident with themselves and are actually becoming more friendly with males in a shorter amount of time.  Within just a few days of bonding, they're all over the male volunteers!
