Troy, Lala, Bakkies, Kayla and Sarafina are loving their new enclosure with Bloomie and clearly enjoy not being the little ones on the farm anymore. They are still bottle fed each morning but are also being fed lots of fruit, vegetables and mielepap.Their daily walks see them take a new route nowadays, either to the riverbed or the camel thorn tree where they have tons of fun climbing up and pulling down on the branches before falling off, and then climbing up and doing it all over again!
Bloomie is still the alpha female in the group and making sure they all know it too! However, their latest escapade was led by the mischievous Sarafina and Kayla who cheekily dug up part of the fence and crept out of the enclosure one evening!
After hearing some unusual activity on the roof of one of the sheds where the volunteers stay, we discovered the two baboons clambering around in the dark. They were chased and quickly rounded up and ushered back into their enclosures but it’s shown us how capable they're becoming and how fast they’re growing up!
