Our big baboons are enjoying being the oldest and biggest on the farm now and are really showing off their boisterous side, especially Nemo and Bobby and also Big Mumma who is on heat at the moment.Johannes takes them all out for a walk with the volunteers twice a week, each Monday and Friday, and every time we notice how more and more adventurous they are with new volunteers. But everyone still loves being so close to these incredible animals.
However, the opportunity to walk with the big baboons might not be available much longer as their strong characters mean that it may soon be too risky to take them out with volunteers. We think we’ve got another 6 months to a year though and during this time they’ll be taken to a new area on their walks. We’ve set up a net in a camel thorn tree for them to play on which they seem to love already, clambering around and doing what monkeys do best! Jeffrey and Jelly-Tot in particular have taken to their new toy rather well!
